2000 Toyota Tundra Timing Belt Problems
I have a 2002 Tundra Limited with the 47L.
2000 toyota tundra timing belt problems. My dealer is telling me that I need the timing belt replaced and that it should have been done at 60K because of the New England weather conditions. Ran great for about 10000 miles. My owners manual says to change it at 90K.
At 200000 miles I decided to replace the timing belt. Manufacturerdealers recommend replacement of the timing chain at about 90000 miles. I have A 06 Sequoia that I bought with 180000 miles.
Other sources claim that. I do not know if you have the 34L DOHC V6 or the 47L DOHC V8. Click on the following free direct Link.
If you are noticing problems when shifting gears or speeding up this is another good indicator of a timing belt mishap. Ive talked to several mechanics - including the dealer - about the cost of changing out the chain. When you turn the key you might hear the starter motor engage but since the timing belt operates the crank and camshaft it will not turn over.
For 2000 Toyota Tundra SR5 which still use manual belt tensioner it is a more common settingIt is counterclockwise to loosen by a single bolt. Water pump Idler and tensioner. Let me know if this helped or if you have additional information or questions.
Ive got a 2000 Tundra SR5 4X4 TRD package with approx. Strange behavior at high RPM could indicate that your Toyota timing belt has lost many of its rubber teeth that hold onto the gears in the crankshaft and is slipping. The first generation of the Toyota Tundra was sold in America for the 2000 though 2006 model years.
