Asked Aug 7 2013 by Tommy. In all cases it clearly shows the mechanic that a check of the EVAP vent valve is in order. Toyota has issued a service bulletin EG013-03 to address a problem with the evaporative emissions system and codes P0440 P0441 OR P0446.
The gas tank was and is 34 full. My scanner found only these codes. Toyota is having a lot of problems with failures in their EVAP systems.
The fuel vapors from the fuel tank are absorbed and stored by charcoal pellets in the charcoal canister. If P0446 is combined with P0440 and P0441 use this bulletin. P0446 code is an evaporation leak code also p0440 p0441 and p0456 could be as simple as a loose gas cap most common would be a charcoal canister.
